Meet Dr. I
Dr. I grew up with a passion for medicine.
But what does that really mean? Well, one thing it means is that he comes from an impressively long line of medical professionals. Let’s just say dinner conversation at the Ighani house in west Texas when Dr. I was growing up centered around science, medicine, work ethic, focus and family.
Dad was a dentist. Mom, a nurse. Brother grew up to be an anesthesiologist and sister, an internal medicine doctor.
So when it was young Dr. I’s turn, he chose ophthalmology as his field of study. He was drawn to the artistry and intricacy of eye surgery as much as he desired to get to know and serve patients for a lifetime. Ophthalmology offered the perfect mix of technical and relational, science and art. Off to UT Austin for undergraduate (Go Horns!) and medical school at Texas Tech (Get your guns up!), and the rest is history.

Dr. I is married to Naseem Khozein, a professional violinist and instructor who sits on the Board of the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra. Together, they have three daughters. Deeply rooted in their faith, Dr. I and Naseem are raising their daughters to be mentally, emotionally and spiritually strong with a worldview that is inclusive and kind, promoting equality and unity of all mankind.
A lover of all things outdoors, Dr. I enjoys gardening, hiking, biking and working on his grilling game. A self-proclaimed meat lover, he prides himself on his ability to grill a great steak or rack of ribs.
