This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Elaine Lane, Ophthalmic Technician, whose incredible 45 years in ophthalmology have given her a wealth of experience—and plenty of stories to share!
Elaine joined Ighani Eye Care in January 2022 after spending 25 years at a Southlake practice which eventually became our newest location. After working in Bedford for three years, she returned to the Southlake site in 2026—a move she describes as finally being “back home.”
A Career Filled With Meaningful Connections
One of Elaine’s favorite memories from her time at the Southlake office is particularly special: it’s where she met her husband!
After decades in ophthalmology, Elaine says one of the things she has enjoyed most is working with Dr. Ighani and the Ighani Eye Care team.
“In my 45 years of working in ophthalmology, I have truly enjoyed working with Dr. Ighani and the staff. We are a family, and being the oldest of the group, they keep me young and on my toes.”
It’s clear that Elaine’s passion for ophthalmology goes far beyond the clinical side of eye care. Her years of experience and genuine appreciation for the people she works with are a wonderful reflection of the personal approach that is at the heart of Ighani Eye Care.
When She’s Not Taking Care of Patients…
Elaine loves spending time outdoors and enjoys gardening, boating and running. Her idea of a perfect day? Sitting on a beach. And when it comes to food, it’s hard to beat one of her favorite combinations: pasta and a glass of wine.
She’s also looking forward to a special trip to Greece. Elaine promised her 15-year-old grandson that they would travel there together for his high school graduation—and he makes sure she remembers how close that trip is getting!
Elaine has even turned travel into a fun family tradition. She collects key chains, and her grandson got her started. Whenever they visit somewhere new, they bring each other a key chain as a special reminder of their adventures together.
At home, Elaine is also a proud dog mom to Mollie, a 7-year-old Goldendoodle, and Norman, a 5-year-old Labradoodle.
Elaine’s four-plus decades in ophthalmology—and her dedication to the people around her—are a wonderful reflection of what makes Ighani Eye Care special. We’re grateful for everything Elaine brings to our team and our patients. As she put it, “We are a family.”
